Earlier this month, one of our members had a scary time when she reacted to her medication. She told us ‘I was in hospital yesterday, my usual pharmacy gave me the wrong pills, Risperodone. I took the pills thinking it was my normal Ripinerol and ended up in A&E for six hours. The doctors and nurses were great checking me over. I was never prescribed Risperodone at all.’
Her symptoms were a cloudy head, immobility, unbalanced, anxious, head pressure and unable to speak clearly. Thankfully she was alert enough to call for help from Parkinson’s UK and the Paramedics who were fantastic. She received fabulous support and advice. The incorrect medicine could have reduced her heart rate significantly.
Please check your medication when you receive your prescription!
